Botox Cosmetic/ Neuromodulators:

Botox and other neuromodulators are intramuscular injectable medicines used to improve the look of moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines, and lateral canthal lines (crows feet). The effects of Botox Cosmetic and neuromodulators are temporary and last approximately 3-4 months.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are FDA approved temporary injectable implants that help to create a smoother and/or fuller appearance in the face.  Primary uses for dermal fillers are to reduce lines and wrinkles particularly in the nasolabial folds (the lines from the sides of the nose to the edges of the mouth), cheeks, chin, lips, and back of the hands.

SkinVive

What is SkinVive?

SkinVive is an injectable hyaluronic acid which draws and retains moisture in the skin. This product is designed to improve skin smoothness and hydration creating a radiant appearance that lasts for 6 months.

How does SkinVive work?

SkinVive works by increasing function of aquaporin proteins in the skin. Aquaporin is a hydration marker that facilitates the flow of water and glycerol into and out of skin cells. Glycerol is a molecule that draws moisture from the environment into skin to aid in hydration.

Who is a good candidate for SkinVive?

Anyone who feels their skin is dull, lax, or dry. Anyone who feels they need textural help and help with fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size.

Hydration imbalance in skin can lead to overproduction of sebum and oil. Overproduction of sebum and oil can lead to clogged pores. Clogged pores appear large. Proper skin hydration with injectable moisture will balance out this imbalance reducing the appearance of large pores.

When will results be apparent and how long do they last?

Results will appear approximately 2-4 weeks after treatment and the glow will last 6 months.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that removes surface debris, dead skin, and hair using a custom dermaplaning blade. This procedure allows for increased absorption of topical products, immediately diminishes appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by removing dead, dull skin, primes skin for IPL Photofacials, chemical peels, or microneedling to enhance effects, and instantly creates healthier looking, more radiant skin. This procedure requires minimal to no downtime and is painless with immediate results. Dermaplaning can be done every four weeks in most patients to maintain beautiful, healthy, radiant skin.

Microneedling

SkinPen micro needling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that stimulates collagen production by creating millions of microchannels in the skin producing controlled skin injury without actually damaging the epidermis.  The SkinPen is specifically designed to penetrate to the depth of the dermis.  Epidermal and dermal penetration microinjuries lead to the set-up of a wound healing cascade that releases specific growth factors, connective tissue neogenesis, collagen production, and breakdown and revascularization of scar tissues.   This process targets common skin issues including treatment of acne scars, surgical scars, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, large pores, and uneven skin texture.

Microneedling with PRP

(platelet rich plasma)

This procedure involves extracting your own PRP which contains proteins and growth factors that help skin tissue repair itself and stimulates collagen production.  Micro needling alone will increase collagen production and show effective results.  The addition of PRP will boost tissue healing and collagen production giving an even better result.  This procedure is safe for all skin colors.  A series of 3-5 treatments is recommended depending on the targeted skin issue.

Microneedling with SkinFuse Post Procedure Protocol:  This package provides 3 months of post procedure skin care enhancing results by up to 200%

Radiofrequency Microneedling

Raidofrequency microneedling uses tiny needles and heat to create controlled micro injuries which stimulate tissue regeneration. Each micro injury stimulates an immune response by the body which stimulates a cascade of events leading to a surge production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. The depth of micro injury is controlled by the provider and ranges from superficial down to the level of the dermis.

Benefits from radio frequency microneedling include improvement in skin laxity, smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, improvement in skin tone and texture, reduction of scarring, and reduction of pore size. This procedure is safe for all skin types.

A series of 3-5 treatments spaced 1 month apart is recommended for best results.

Check out or Tips & Tricks page for more detailed information on this procedure!

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat blood vessel malformations, also known as varicose or spider veins. This procedure is nonsurgical and requires injection of a sclerosant agent directly into the blood vessel, causing the vessel to shrink and disappear. This procedure has minimal to no downtime. A series of treatments is typically needed to achieve full treatment of unwanted spider and varicose veins.

IPL Photofacial

Intense Pulsed Light Laser therapy AKA photofacial uses light energy that is used both for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.  The IPL laser delivers intense, visible, broad spectrum pulsed light which has cutoff filters that are used to selectively filter damaging wavelengths especially ultra violet light.  The resultant light targets and destroys specific structures in cells which are then reabsorbed by the body.  Indications for IPL treatment include: acne, birthmarks, stretch marks, liver or age spots, broken blood vessels, brown spots, dark spots from hormonal changes, discolored skin, fine wrinkles, freckles, rosacea erythema, scars, spider veins, and unwanted hair. This effective procedure is recommended in a series of 3-5 treatments for maximal results and downtime is minimal.

The "lunchtime laser"

The laser facial is a highly effective skin rejuvenation treatment that allows for amazing results with no downtime.  This non-ablative laser therapy uses state of the art technology that heats the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate healing and rejuvenation.  This treatment works to increase the production of collagen and elastin to firm and tighten skin.  This treatment is perfect for timing around an event, vacation, or to refresh and rejuvenate the skin.

Clear lift skin tightening laser

This non-ablative Q-switch laser is indicated for treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, superficial post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, and photo damage. Nanosecond pulses deliver acoustic shockwaves to the dermis. The epidermis is kept intact while the wound healing reaction stimulates resurfacing. Laser is transmitted and absorbed by large pigment particles. Photo-acoustic damage leads to pigment particles shattering. Depth control spacers allow for customized treatments. These particles are then removed from the skin via phagocytosis.

Recommended treatment intervals for skin tightening and collagen production is 3-4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

Recommended treatment intervals for treatment of melanoma every four weeks until satisfactory results are achieved.

Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is a procedure which is intended to remove unwanted tattoos.  The technology behind laser tattoo removal works to break up the pigment within tattoos with a high-intensity light beam into fragments that are small enough to be absorbed and excreted by the immune system.  The number of treatments needed will depend upon the age of tattoo, colors in tattoo, skin color, and depth of tattoo pigment.

Laser Hair Reduction

Laser hair reduction is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair reduction, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair.  The light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicles.  This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.  Average hair reduction is 15% per session, which is why multiple sessions are needed.  Ojai Valley MedSpa is using the most up to date technology to provide the quickest and most pain free treatment available.  New technology allows for laser hair reduction to be performed year round. Lipotropic nutrients are compounds made up of amino acids and vitamins that promote the flow of fat and bile to and from the liver.  These compounds produce a decongesting effect on the liver and promote improved liver function and fat metabolism.  Lipotropic nutrients speed up the removal of fat and decrease deposit of fat in the liver.  Nutrients in this lipotropic compound helps to neutralize toxins, control mood and appetite, improve health and function of the liver and kidneys, increase metabolism and fat burning, improve memory, decrease fatigue, improve neuropathies, and improve sleep.

Methionine is a sulfur containing amino acid and is important in many bodily functions.  It functions to prevent excessive fat buildup in the liver and body, is helpful in relieving or preventing fatigue, reduces histamine which may be useful in some allergy cases, and works as an antioxidant, or free radical deactivator, through conversion to L-cysteine to neutralize toxins.

Inositol is a nutrient included in the B-complex vitamins and is closely associated with choline.  Inositol boosts the metabolism of fats and helps to reduce blood cholesterol.  Inositol also participates in the function of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is known to control mood and appetite.

L carnitine is an amino acid derivative found in meat and animal products.  It is responsible for the transport of fatty acids to the cells mitochondria which then burns fat into energy.  With higher levels of L-carnitine in your body, you become more efficient at burning fat, therefore decreasing the amount of fat your body stores and reducing visceral belly fat.  Other functions of L-carnitine include more energy during and after workouts, metabolism boost, reduction of lactic acid buildup in muscles (faster post workout recovery), and immune boost (free radical neutralizer).

Choline is a nutrient included in the B-complex vitamins and is a lipotropic nutrient.  It is present in the body in all living cells.  Choline is associated with the utilization of fats and cholesterol within the body.  Choline prevents fat from accumulating in the liver and is an essential nutrient for liver and kidney health.

Thiamine (vitamin B1) is a vitamin that helps cells convert carbohydrates into energy.  Low levels of vitamin B1 means your metabolism is not functioning at its best.

Dexpanthenol (Vitamin B5) is a B complex vitamin that is widely distributed in plants and animals.  This functions to maintain a healthy digestive tract.

Hangover Infusion

Ingredients: Ascorbic Acid, Magnesium, B-12 and B-Complex Vitamins, Amino Acids

How it Works:

1.     Hangover infusions detoxify your liver.  The liver is responsible for identifying and filtering out toxic substances in our body.  Our liver also decontaminates our blood and metabolizes nutrients to provide our body with essential proteins.  IV nutrient therapy helps to support liver function by supporting enzymes, amino acids, and other essential nutrients that the liver needs to process the alcohol consumed.  Vitamins, amino acids, and minerals included in IV nutrient therapy function as a team to neutralize free radicals and effectively remove them from the body.

2.     Alcohol is broken down by the body into acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is a substance that can be broken down naturally, however, the body utilizes excessive nutrients to do so.  The process of breaking down acetaldehyde leads to symptoms of a hangover including sweating, nausea, and vomiting.  IV nutrient therapy includes vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that are depleted by this process including magnesium, B-complex vitamins, amino acids, and zinc.  Replenishing these nutrients provide quicker relief for negative symptoms of alcohol consumption.

3.     Part of hangover symptoms are simply related to dehydration.  Alcohol is a diuretic meaning that it causes your body to excrete excess amounts of fluid.  As a result of fluid depletion, your body tries to distribute the water left to areas that need to be replenished which can take fluid away from other parts of the body.  This can sometimes lead to the hangover symptom of headaches and sore muscles.

4.     IV nutrient therapy can boost your energy levels.  Mitochondria are the powerhouse of cellular function.  Mitochondria need vitamins, amino acids, and minerals to function properly.  IV nutrient therapy helps to ensure your mitochondria have enough supply of these nutrients to function properly and provide adequate fuel to give your body energy.

Anti-Aging Infusion

Ingredients: Biotin, Ascorbic Acid, Zinc, Glycine

How it works:

Glycine: Glycine plays a vital role in collagen formation.  It is an important component in joint, tendon, and ligament function and growth.  Approximately 33% of the collagen in our bodies is composed of glycine.  Glycine is also used by the body during exercise for the biosynthesis of creatine.  Creatine is what supplies our body with fuel to repair damage and grow stronger.  Glycine provides our cells with energy because it converts dietary nutrients into usable energy for muscle tissues.  This leads to a potential boost in endurance, strength, and physical performance.  Glycine a precursor for glutathione synthesis.  Glutathione is an antioxidant that prevents cellular damage and several signs of aging.  Glycine also works with other amino acids to act as an inhibitory neurotransmitter.  This means that it has implications for improving sleep quality, mental performance, mood, memory, and behavior.

Biotin: Biotin (Vitamin B7) is a dietary component important for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and amino acids.  The term Biotin is derived from the word “biotos” which is the Ancient Greek word for sustenance and life.  Biotin functions to convert food into energy while ensuring that your liver, nervous system, skin, eyes, and hair remain healthy.

Ascorbic Acid: Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is a water-soluble vitamin found in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid is essential for formation of blood vessels, cartilage, muscle, and collagen.  This essential vitamin is a power antioxidant and free radical neutralizer, helps to maintain glutathione levels, and helps to recycle vitamin E.  Ascorbic acid has been shown to kill rapidly multiplying cells (cancer cells) and may play a role in cancer prevention.  Ascorbic acid has also been shown to kill virally infected cells and may play a role in some ailments including common cold, gum infections, acne, depression, fertility, and cancer.

Zinc:  Zinc is the second most abundant trace element in the body.  According to the World Health Organization, 31% of people are zinc deficient.  Zinc promotes numerus biochemical pathways and is essential for the immune system, skin, hair, and nail health.  Zinc may also play a positive role in mood stabilization, taste, smell, appetite, fertility, and vision.

These infusions can be done weekly.

nad+ infusion

 Ingredients: NAD+

How it works:

NAD+:  Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) is a universal cellular electron transporter, coenzyme, and signaling molecule that is present in all cells of the body and is necessary for cellular function and viability.  NAD+ is required for activation of proteins which are essential for cellular processes including supporting metabolism and cellular energy production (ATP).  NAD+ levels are the highest in newborns and steadily decline with increasing chronological age.  For example, at age 50, NAD+ levels are approximately half of the level seen in younger adults. Increasing chronological age both uses and requires increased NAD+ levels because cells and DNA gets damaged easier.  Repair of damaged cells and DNA uses increased levels of NAD+ and the cycle continues to repeat itself.  Factors requiring increased use of NAD+ include chemotherapy, inflammatory disease, age, and infection.  NAD+ replacement therapy may promote mitochondrial health, genome (DNA) stability, neuroprotection, and healthy aging.

NAD+ infusions can be added to any infusion.

Antioxidant infusion

Ingredients: Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), B12, Magnesium, B-Complex, Alpha Lipoic Acid

How it works:

These injections can be given monthly to keep you energized and feeling your best.

Magnesium: Magnesium plays a critical role in many bodily functions. Magnesium helps to grow proteins, build muscle, and promote development of antioxidants and cellular communication. Magnesium also helps to promote blood flow, improve circulation, and promotes cardiovascular health.

B-Complex: B-complex injections increase energy level, regulate metabolism, and promotes efficient nutrient utilization.

Alpha Lipoic Acid: ALA acts as a potent antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress. ALA may play a role in regulating blood sugars, decreasing inflammation within the body, and improving memory.

Metabolism Boost/Skinny infusion

Ingredients: B-Complex, Vitamin B12, Amino Acids, Glycine

Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) is a vitamin that is essential for bodily functions.  The human body does not make vitamin B12, therefore it must be derived from outside sources (food or supplements).  Vitamin B12 is essential for cardiovascular health, increased metabolism, improved conversion of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats into energy, improved skin tone and texture, improved hair growth, maintenance of a healthy nervous system including reducing depression, fatigue, stress and improving memory, and may provide protection against certain cancers including breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer.

Thiamine (vitamin B1) is a vitamin that helps cells convert carbohydrates into energy.  Low levels of vitamin B1 means your metabolism is not functioning at its best.

Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is a water-soluble vitamin that is synthesized by the intestinal flora and natural present in some foods.  Cooking foods can decrease B2 content.  Vitamin B2 enables coenzymes FAD and FMN to perform their energy producing role, improves the circulatory system function which prevents fatigue and exhaustion, aids in metabolism boosting, helps the absorption of other B proteins, acts as an antioxidant, and activates B6 and folic acid which are important for metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

LED LIGHT THERAPY

Light emitting diode (LED) therapy is a skin care treatment using a variety of colors to treat different skin needs. This treatment was developed by NASA in the 1990’s when they were studying the effects of light therapy on wound healing in astronauts and effects on cell and tissue regeneration.

Red light therapy: This treatment produces coagulation microcolumns that reach depths of 1-6mm, meaning they reach the reticular dermis.
This layer contains collagen, elastin, and reticular fibers. The light induces tissue regeneration by heating the entire stratum from the inside out. This promotes production of collagen and elastin, increased cell turnover, and reduces inflammation.

Blue light therapy: This treatment is indicated for acne prone skin. The light penetrates 1mm deep and produces radical oxygen which destroys the acne causing bacteria Propionibacterium Acne. The light is absorbed by the bacteria and then the bacteria dies. The first notable effect of this treatment is decreased inflammation and redness. This can be combined with a medical grade salicylic acid facial for best results.

Orange light therapy: This treatment is effective in treating skin issues involving redness, such as spider veins. This treatment is also intended to promote vitality to dull and lifeless complexions. This treatment combined with a lactic acid facial is great for bringing a glow to the skin for special occasions.

Green light therapy: This treatment breaks up clusters of pigment and therefore diminishes unwanted pigmentation. This is a great treatment to add on to a chemical peel and at home skin brightening treatment.

Yellow light therapy: This treatment is helpful in rejuvenating skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, relieving skin redness, increasing wound healing, improving blood circulation, and hydrating the skin.

Purple light therapy: This treatment is a dual merge of red and blue light therapy which makes it the ideal option to treat acne problems, increase cell regeneration, and promote the healing of damaged tissue.

Any of these light therapies can be combined with medical grade facials for best results.

Recommended frequency of treatments: Once a week for 8-10 weeks, then once a month.

When combined with medical grade treatments, light therapy is continued during off weeks from other treatments.

Sessions are 30 minutes.

Package pricing available.

hydrodermabrasion

Hydrodermabrasion

Hydrodermabrasion is the newest advance in non-laser, non-invasive skin resurfacing.  Hydrodermabrasion combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection simultaneously.  The result from this facial is clearer, brighter skin with no downtime.  This treatment improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, congested and enlarged pores, oily skin, and acne prone skin.

This treatment features a variety of tips which perform different functions. The functions of the tips include extraction of blackheads and whiteheads, careful exfoliation of dead skin cells on the epidermis only, and lymphatic drainage.

Benefits:

Evens skin tone

Compatible with all skin types

Shrinks pores

Compatible with daily skin-care regimen

Safe and non-invasive

No recovery or downtime

Visible results from the first treatment

Refreshed skin

This treatment is safe for sensitive skin due to interchangeable abrasive discs allowing for personalized settings.

Procedure:

The procedure begins with a double cleanse, degreasing, and extractions.

Hydrodermabrasion provides a vacuum effect that performs mechanical exfoliation which immediately sucks away dead skin cells and cleans out pores.  A booster serum is applied during this process to loosen debris from pores and dead skin cells allowing for maximal results.

The handpiece is used to apply a mixture of serums and water which is meant to breakdown and dissolve the contents of pores.  The handpiece will eject a solution and suck it back in at the same time into a different channel to prevent prolonged skin exposure to contaminated liquids.

Exfoliation of the epidermis sends signals to the body to begin producing more collagen and elastin.  The specialized shape of the hydrodermabrasion tip combined with suction allows for gentle exfoliation of the epidermis.  This step will clear away dead skin and brighten skin.

The next step is more intense suction to remove loosened dead skin and debris.  The loosened sebum, dirt, and bacteria is suctioned out leaving pores instantly unclogged.

The final step is an oxygen and either a vitamin C or hyaluronic acid high pressure spray providing intense hydration, brightening, and skin plumping effects.  The serums can penetrate the pores much deeper with this type of application resulting in a maximized skin volumizing effect.

This treatment can be completed with an optional add on such as LED light therapy or dermaplane.

The results of this treatment are immediate.  The skin will show a fresh glow, the pores will shrink a few days after treatment, and collagen production will begin.

These treatments can be performed monthly.

Downtime with this treatment is minimal to none.  The skin may be red for a few hours after treatment due to increased blood flow.  If blood thinners are taken, minor bruising may occur.  Depending on the degree of exfoliation, mild flaking may occur a few days after treatment.
